My race isn’t my culture. As a Chinese adopted raised with a Caucasian family, social identity can be hard and conflict with my race. It’s not true of all international adoptees, but it is true of me. Swipe to find out more about my own curated culture. Soft smiles for a slow weekend ahead! I’m looking forward to house sitting for my parents and doing next to nothing all weekend. A house to myself! How nice! Hope you have the happiest weekend!! Hey, hi, hello! We have some new faces around here so I’ll do a #MaedayMonday introduction: Last night I had my dear friend Madison over to eat and catch up. I knew it would be sweet and lovely, but I didn’t realize how badly I needed it. Madison and I have been close friends since high school — she’s seen me at so many different phases in life and loved me through so many different struggles. She’s prayed for me, listened to me, hugged me, comforted me, encouraged me. I never know which one is the bad one, but she’s truly loved me through thick and thin. Confession: I gained a lot of weight recently. And I mean - A LOT. Another confession: I panicked. Despite being someone who advocates for self-love and wellness, I couldn’t help but naturally feel shocked and ashamed and burdened. My grandfather passed last week. Big Daddy - as we lovingly called him - left me with several life lessons inspired by the way he loved & lived. Scroll through to see which one resonates with you the most. Kindness is cool!!!! I really, truly, mean it. At times being kind is the harder, less natural route — but it’s always always ALWAYS the better choice. Try to be kind today — all the cool kids are doing it. 😉 Happy Wednesday!!! Is it just me or is this week flyinggg by?? Lately in Dallas the weather has been delightfully brisk in the mornings, and it’s the perfect temperature to open my screen door. I’m so happy Texas is giving us a semi-real spring instead of jumping into the summer heat. ☺️ In case you missed yesterday’s reel, I had a delightful weekend with my dear family as we hunkered down in East Texas at my uncle’s cabin. It was slow and sweet and everything my little soul needed.
